The 96th Annual Indiana Farm Bureau Convention
was held December 12-13, 2014, at West Baden Springs Hotel in French Lick,
Indiana. Markey’s provided the
audiovisual support in this unique venue both Friday night for the President’s
Address and for lunch and the Keynote Address on Saturday.
This venue has an atrium with a dome that is 200’ in
diameter and 100’ tall, so from an acoustics standpoint, Markey’s had to be
strategic about the placement of speakers.
We positioned several of them throughout
the atrium and limited the volume, and this eliminated any echoing. There was also a 30’ Christmas tree on top of an 8’ octagon pedestal in the center of the atrium, so this meant that not all attendees would have a clear sightline to the stage. Markey’s solved this problem by placing two 65” monitors on the back side of the Christmas tree display to ensure that members would not miss what was happening onstage.
The stage design included two 9’ x 16’ screens and a 24’ wide
backdrop of Silver Lustre drape. A
pillow wall panel backdrop was hung in front of the drape and uplit with ten Martin Stagebars in Indiana
Farm Bureau’s signature red. For the
dinner, we provided two long-throw Christie 10k projectors from PRT truss
towers for the center screen. The
signal that went to the projectors and monitors included a video played from a
laptop, HD cameras as IMAG, and a Powerpoint presentation. We also used (2) 55” monitors downstage as a
Telescript teleprompter feed for the President of Indiana Farm Bureau to give
his annual speech.
Markey’s technical experts were able to overcome all logistical
challenges, and the convention attendees were able to enjoy the presentations
in a beautiful setting.
