American Legion and Markey's Rental & Staging Partner Once Again

The American Legion 94th National Convention was held August 24-30, 2012 in the Indiana Convention Center (ICC) and Indianapolis Marriott Downtown.  This is American Legion's largest annual meeting, and Markey's has been the audiovisual partner for this convention for 19 years.

With attendance at 10,000 members, combined with the large amount of sessions going on throughout ICC, there was a strong need to communicate locations, schedule of sessions, upcoming events, and information about special guest presentations.  Markey's provided 15 monitor stations in the halls of the ICC made of up 52" monitors accompanied by 25" touchscreen monitors that displayed this important information, and the monitors also provided way-finding for users who could find directions from their current location to their desired location via touchscreen.

Markey's also manned a video control area for this convention to serve multiple purposes. During General Sessions, Markey's projected live images, slides and recorded videos onto (3) 12' x 21' screens and (4) 9' x 16' screens, all with 10k and 12k HD 3chip DLP projectors. Markey's also provided the equipment and technology to do live web streaally recorded videos for viewing later on the Legion website.  Other video services included closed captioning to screens, lower thirds graphics, teleprompting, digital recording, video editing, graphic display and a monitor network for several locations backstage as well as throughout ICC - all in HD.

Markey's Exposition Services, also a long time partner of American Legion, played a large part in the convention in the 95,000 sq. ft. Expo Hall.  There were approximately 150 commercial exhibitors in 200 booths.  In addition, there were various health and education booths and a 20,000 sq. ft. Emblem Sales store selling Legion products. The scope of work performed by Markey's Exposition Services included:   entrance unit, exhibitor booths (pipe and drape, tables, chairs, wastebaskets), ceiling signs, aisle signs and banners, material handling, and carpeting.
