Proud to Support Literacy: 22nd National Conference on Family Literacy

Markey's Rental & Staging provided audiovisual equipment, technical support and a Producer for the 22nd National Conference on Family Literacy.   Over 1,000 people gathered in Louisville, Kentucky to attend this event held April 27 - May 1, 2013 at the Galt House.

The National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) and Literacy Powerline joined forces to present this year's conference.  Both organizations are committed to raising literacy levels in our nation.  Literacy Powerline works to engage communities in literacy - 100% literacy through 100% community engagement.  NCFL tackles the intergenerational effects of lower literacy by engaging families - parents and children - in their own and each other’s learning.

Markey's Rental & Staging's scope of work included:

Truss Arch:  A truss arch greeted guests as they entered the conference Registration Area.  On each side of the arch, three (3) 55" monitors were mounted - two (2) vertical and one (1) horizontal. Each monitor showcased the various conference graphics and sponsor logos.

Registration Area:  Five laptops, copier and printer were provided by Markey's Rental & Staging to power the National Conference on Family Literacy's Registration Area.

General Sessions:  Sharon Darling, Founder and President of the National Center for Family Literacy kicked off the Opening General Session.  A combination of lit Cy Towers and Luma Walls were used to create an asymmetrical layered set design.  Throughout the Opening General Session, numerous colors were painted on the Cy Towers and Luma Walls transforming the set.

A three camera I-MAG shoot was done with HD images projected on three (3) 16' x 9' screens.  A truss rig consisting of a 60' upstage and a 110' downstage truss provided with conventional and moving lights for stage wash and set lighting.  In addition to providing the equipment, Markey's Rental & Staging provided a talented crew that included a producer who called the show.

Three other General Sessions were held during the conference featuring Eepy Birds and C. C. Chapman as keynote speakers.  Each General Session featured a different look using lighting and reconfigured Cy Towers and Luma Walls.

Featured and Concurrent Sessions:  Each featured and concurrent session was equipped with an 8' tripod screen, projector, podium and sound provided by Markey's Rental & Staging.

Cyber Café:  Placed in the center of the conference trade show, the Cyber Café featured three laptops and a printer for guests to use throughout the day.
