Markey’s Shines Spotlight on 2014 Stars of Pink Models

Pink Ribbon Connection celebrated its 20th anniversary of the Breast Cancer Survivor Fashion Show held on Saturday, October 11th at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown.  This year marked Markey’s Rental & Staging’s 14th year as the audiovisual services partner.  Thirty-six models comprised of breast cancer survivors and members of their medical team walked the runway featuring the latest fashions from The Secret Ingredient and J. Benzal.  These models shined with a hope and an energy that was positively contagious.

Executive Director, Dori Sparks-Unsworth said, “Working with Markey’s Rental and Staging is such a joy! They not only make our fashion show perfect in terms of sound, lighting, and staging, they also bring their personal commitment to excellence which creates a exceptional sensory experience for our guests. The fact that we do not have to worry a bit about any of the details of the stage set, lighting and sound means we can focus on the models themselves and create a magical day for them to remember always. After 14 years of partnering with Markey’s on this breast cancer survivor fashion show, I cannot imagine doing this event without them!”

At this year’s Stars of Pink event, Markey’s Rental & Staging provided a fresh look!  After years of standard definition cameras and projection, Pink Ribbon Connection made the leap to full high-definition screens and cameras this year utilizing 16' x 9' Stumpfls with Christie 8k HD projectors.  The lighting rig consisted of 12 points with 200’ of truss.  Attached to the rig were 18 2k’s, 4 250 Entours, 4 ETC source four lights, and 16 Mac 101s.  Markey’s Lighting Designer used all of these fixtures to make a beautiful scene that flowed from one look to the next.  Audio was rocking with a standard ground-supported 4892 system with subs.  The element that really separated this event from previous years was the ModDim panels.  Utilizing 10’ of drape on either side of the stage, we covered those panels with the ModDim panels. They were then lit with pink from the ground using Martin Stagebar longs. We hit them from the truss with a 20th anniversary event gobo on each panel.  The ModDim panel took the gobo very well and allowed us to create a unique branded look.  Overall, this event packed quite a punch!
