On March 27, 2014, the University of Dayton held its annual
RISE Symposium. This event draws 4,000 attendees from around the country,
and includes students at the University of Dayton China Institute via a live
two-way conference feed. Markey’s was
the audiovisual partner for this event for the 10th year, and each
year it becomes a bigger event.
This year for Opening Session, Markey’s used a new 15’ x 73’
screen and six Christie 14k projectors that were co-converged and blended with
the WATCHOUT software system to project vivid and impressively large images.
(see photos below). The stage design was
further enhanced with a combination of Cy Towers and Luma Walls, and a plasma lectern
was utilized as digital signage. Various
Martin intelligent lights were used for the stage lighting and for special effects,
such as coloring the stage pieces.
The screen was left in place for the evening, so students
could gather and watch The University of Dayton basketball team play in the NCAA
Sweet Sixteen tournament. Where else
could you watch a game on a 73’ screen?
Other components of this event included the social function RISEapalooza,
where Markey’s deployed over 40 LED lights to color and illuminate the party. Markey’s also built a 10’ x 20’ illuminated
truss arch for a dramatic entryway into the event.
There were multiple breakout sessions throughout the campus
that Markey’s provided audiovisual gear for.
Also, CNBC broadcast from a live set in the Arena and in other campus
locations, and Markey’s provided 55” monitors for each to be used as set pieces
with live video feed.
