Employment Opportunities

At Markey's, Our Employees are Our Owners

A recent milestone in our 54- year history was to put an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) into place on December 31, 2012.  Chuck Markey, Jr., took this step to ensure stability of the company for the future.  After being in the industry for over 50 years, he wanted Markey’s to be around for another 50 and beyond, continuing to do business the Markey’s way – providing high-quality equipment, with a fierce dedication to exemplary customer service.   Another reason Chuck chose to institute the ESOP was for employees to create wealth in a tangible way.  By having a financial stake in the company’s success, employees are more motivated to be budget-conscious and do what is best for the company. It is a way to reward employees for their hard work and dedication, both those that have been with the company for over 20 years and those hiring with us in the future.

Employee Training

Markey’s seeks customer-focused individuals who are committed to improving themselves and their skillsets. Training is on-going at Markey’s; some of the training you might be expected to attend would be:

  • Customer Service:  All Markey's employees are required to attend an 8-hour interactive customer service training day, and leave knowing how they are expected to treat customers, trouble-shoot last-minute problems, and gather the right resources to answer any question and address any need.
  • Continual education through organizations such as InfoComm.
  • Technical education through TOMCAT Hoist & Rigging School, manufacturer training and lighting training.
  • Product Specific Training:  We know all employees have technical skills before they begin at Markey's, whether it is from prior work experience, technical or university studies, or both.  We always seek to further improve our employee's skills, so you will have ongoing training on the job, and also attend classes for a week every July to learn advanced technical skills.
  • Forklift Operators Certification:  Markey's warehouse employees are certified in Class I and IV forklift operation, so they drive forklifts with the utmost caution and efficiency.
  • Personal and Public Safety:  All Markey's employees are trained how to safely stack and load equipment, how to run and tape cable safely, and general safety guidelines to be used when working around the general public.  We are ever mindful of the safety of our employees, both at our locations and when working onsite.
  • Over the road drivers have Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs):  Markey's drivers are licensed to drive loads up to 25,000 lbs. (CDL A) and anything over 26,000 lbs. (CDL B)
